The HEP Knife or HEPNYF was originally designed for stripping lead sheaths from PILC cables, but has more recently found widespread application in removal of bedding compound from Waveform CNE cables without damage to the soft aluminium neutral earth components. The 39mm deep blade is specially shaped such that with normal care a clean cut can be made through a lead sheath without damage to the underlying insulation. The blade is easily re-sharpened with a file.

The Mini HEP-NYF was designed as a plastic hacking knife to compliment the Standard HEP Knife and is particularly beneficial in the stripping of smaller PILC service cables and the removal of the mastic bedding material in all Waveform cables. The curved blade is specially shaped such that with normal care a clean cut can be made through a lead sheath without damage to the underlying insulation. The blade is easily re-sharpened with a file.
